About Megan

Let me introduce myself.

In 2014, my husband, John, and I moved to Carroll County. Though we were commuting to Montgomery and Howard Counties for work, we were drawn by the strong schools and the sense of community found here. Over the past 11 years, we’ve built our lives while raising our children, growing careers, and investing in our community. John opened a business in Eldersburg, and I built my career at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

On April 1, 2025, I, along with hundreds of my colleagues, went to work only to find that my credentials to enter the buildings at FDA had been revoked, and that I had received a Reduction in Force (RIF) notice. Though it was difficult to step away from a career that I loved, particularly in that manner, it reaffirmed my commitment to public service.

My childhood was spent in Wisconsin, working as our multi-generation family farm transitioned from traditional dairy farming to agritourism over my childhood. While still in Wisconsin, I earned my bachelor’s degrees in secondary education and history with a minor in political science, and moved to Maryland to teach geography and American government. I later transitioned to federal service and earned my Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Baltimore.

I spent 17 years at the FDA, building and developing operational programs and policy, ensuring that programs and projects under my care were administered effectively and efficiently. My career was built on working with cross-disciplinary groups within the agency, learning to listen to the needs of the populations I serve and working with them to build programs to suit those needs.During this time, I also obtained a Master’s Certificate in Project Management from George Washington University, and became a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), which I have maintained to this day.

Closer to home, from 2022 to 2024, I served as Associate Director of CarrollBaby, now the Carroll County Diaper Bank, providing diapers to families who need them around Carroll County.

The challenges we face, including rising costs, school budget shortfalls, cuts to critical programs, and divisive politics, requires strong, compassionate leadership. I’m running for County Commissioner because I believe Carroll County can be a place where all can learn, live, and thrive.

I am not content with a government that seeks to only maintain the status quo, or worse, roll back critical support and programs for its citizens. As we have seen in the last several years, change can come quickly and be destructive, but that doesn’t mean that we don’t continue to strive for better futures.

Carroll County is my chosen home. I live here, worship here, work here, my children are educated here, and my husband and I are raising our family here. Whether you’ve been in Carroll County your whole life or it is your chosen home, I invite you to join me in shaping a stronger future for all of us.
